TRUMPETERS GALORE: An Encyclopedia of Trumpet Players & More ReviewEd Annibale took on a nearly unconfrontable task of compiling bio info on the long history of trumpet playing as we currently know it. I was overall impressed with his commitment to collecting not-so-readily available information. I did manage to read every page....eventually. I found some bits of personal interest but I also found that there were some omissions that should've been in the book and more often, huge files on unknown and not-so-important players. Some of the absolutely MAJOR players had very short bios and sometimes merely one sentence as their bio which was either lazy or personal perhaps. There were some errors in info about a few players, one especially mentioned as dead but he's quite alive and still causing trouble, no doubt, as I heard from him recently. It COULD have been more complete in both inclusions as well as data but I still have to commend and thank Ed for doing what he DID do. I would not have wanted to try this as a project. Whew!TRUMPETERS GALORE: An Encyclopedia of Trumpet Players & More OverviewThe trumpet is perhaps one of the most challenging instruments to learn to play, but once mastered, it emits rich tones in a wide variety of musical settings. Many have overcome insurmountable obstacles in order to dedicate their lives to the trumpet. Trumpeters Galore shares an alphabetical compilation of numerous trumpeters, both past and present, that includes fascinating bios, interviews with top trumpeters, and colorful photos.Ed Annibale knows trumpets. A trumpeter since 1971, he has performed for such celebrities as Jimmy Stewart, Milton Berle, and Christopher Reeve as well as President Reagan. In his reference manual for musicians as well as music aficionados, he provides never-before-seen details on the careers and accomplishments of professional trumpeters from around the world. From Yazz Ahmed to Herb Alpert to Alvin Lowrey to Keith Winking, Annibale answers questions for anyone who has ever wondered who played trumpet for a certain movie, television show, big band, or symphony orchestra."Trumpeters Galore is exactly what its title suggests: filled with info on a multitude of professional trumpeters-the who's who in jazz trumpet and beyond. This new book is an essential addition to any trumpet player's library ..."-Leroy Jones, jazz trumpet solo artist; New Orleans, Louisiana
